Maypole festival at the bilingual children's house

On Friday, May 9, 2025, the long-awaited maypole festival took place at Little Feet - big steps.

After weeks of preparation with painting the maypole, baking gingerbread hearts, making decorations, rehearsing songs and dances, the time had finally come. With gingerbread hearts hanging around their necks and dressed in traditional costume, the children paraded into the garden to the sound of traditional music, where their parents were already waiting. Then our finished maypole was carried into the garden by strong fathers. The children performed the song “Heit stelln ma an Maibaum auf”. The pre-school children also performed a “Bandltanz”. The crèche children also sang an English May song.

Then the big moment arrived: The maypole was erected with a big shake and to the applause of those present. Now the fun part could begin. Everyone fortified themselves at the buffet and tried their luck at various game stations. There was climbing on beer crates, hammering on the nail stick, decorating hearts, making small maypoles and jumping on the bouncy castle. There was even a station where you could have “Glupperl” labeled with your name. All in all, we had a wonderful, successful festival, where we brought a lot of Bavarian tradition into the kindergarten. Many thanks to all the parents and especially to the parents' council, who contributed to the success of the party with their active support.
