Since 2004, the National Reading Day has been Germany's largest reading festival and a public event organized by DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lesen and Deutsche Bahn Stiftung on the third Friday in November every year.

Every year on the nationwide Read Aloud Day ("bundesweiter Vorlesetag") in mid-November, this year on November 15, the municipality of Poing donates books to all daycare centers in the municipality.
